Footcare Health Services

*You will need a referral from your family doctor, nurse practitioner or a treating specialist*

The ByWard Family Health Foot Care Team are qualified professionals that work with patients to provide comprehensive footcare services focusing on prevention, early identification, and treatment. 

We use a Best Practices Approach For Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization of Medical Equipment/Devices.  

Our Specialist:

Noor started his nursing career as a Reg. Practical Nurse, he has treated diabetic feet, wound ulcers, and other lower limb complications. Shortly after Noor developed an interest specializing in lower limb care. He graduated from Mohawk College as a Diabetes Educator. Noor collaborates with many health care providers in his community. Noor looks forward to taking care of your foot care concerns.

Noor (Ali) Ismaily’s credentials include Reg. Practical Nurse/ Certified Foot Care Nurse/ Diabetes Educator from Mohawk College/Certified Podortho ® Nurse/ Certified Orthotic Specialist and Educator/Facilitator.

Services Offered

Footcare services at BWFHT include:

  • Diabetic foot screening and education
  • Wound care
  • Nail care (including treatments for fungal, ingrown, and difficult to cut)
  • Dermatological management
  • Corn and callus reduction
  • Sharp debridement
  • Wart treatments
  • Foot pain management

Routine foot care includes a clinical assessment of the feet, education for the client/patient/resident, and care that only involves the epidermal layer of the skin or nails.

Routine care may include the filing of corns or calluses, the filing or trimming of nails, and skin care.

Invasive foot care includes contact with non-intact skin and surgical interventions with entry into or contact with the epidermal, dermal, deep fascial, and osseous structures.  

How to Access

This service is offered to OHIP patients who are enrolled with a ByWard FHT primary care provider(PCP). To access our Footcare Nurse services, you can either ask your PCP for a referral or self-refer by calling 613-564-3950. There is no fee for this service.

How to Prepare
  • Please bring indoor and outdoor footwear (Orthotic appointments only)  
  • Bring a clean pair of extra socks.  
  • Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment to allow time for parking and registration. 
What to Expect

A ByWard Family Health Foot care referral includes a complete assessment by a Foot Nurse, who is trained to treat the feet and lower limbs. During the appointment we will ask questions about your lower limb situation, treat your nails, calluses, corns, wart etc. depending on the issue’s complexity. Appointments can last between 30 and 45 minutes.
